How to check the electricity in the house

Maintaining the electrical system in the house, which is the system that affects the safety of the home the most. It may seem difficult to many people. But in this article, we are going to explain the basics about electrical systems that ordinary people can check for themselves.
Checking the electricity meter (a device used to measure and display the amount of electricity)
The way to check is to turn off the power switch and unplug all electrical appliances. Look at the meter in front of the house to see if the steel gear is spinning. If it is still spinning, there is a leakage current, try checking the leakage circuit breaker to see if it is still working well. If it still works well, the switch or lever will fall down immediately to cut off the electricity, but if the leakage circuit breaker does not work, a technician must be called to fix it.

Checking the main switch (if there is any electrical equipment damaged, it should be replaced immediately) Parts of cut-out type excision switch
  • • The cutout body and cover must not break.
  • • Insert the fuse to the correct size and have the cover completely covered.
  • • Do not use other materials to replace the fuse.
  • • The cable connector at the cutout must be tight and use the correct cable size.
  • • The blades of the cutout when chopping in use must be tight.
Circuit breaker
  • • Check the circuit breaker cover must not crack.
  • • The cover must be completely closed.
  • • It must be installed in a dry, not wet place and far from various chemicals, flammable substances.
  • • Choose a circuit breaker of the appropriate size for the appliance.

Checking the wiring (must be supervised and inspected regularly)
–  Check the wiring, the color should be corrected according to the standard, if there are incorrect points, it should be corrected, and the size of the electrical cable should be chosen to suit the current and electrical appliances in that circuit to ensure safety.
–  Check the power connection to see if the connection is tight and the insulation should be wrapped.
–  Observe the temperature of the wires by touching the insulation surface of the cables. If it feels warm or hot, there is something wrong with it, such as overloading the power cord or the connection point is not tight, which the cord should not walk near the heat. chemicals or being crushed by heavy objects. - Observe the insulation of the wires . There must be no cracking of the frame. No burns or damage. If found, the cable should be replaced immediately.
–  Check the wiring in the ceiling and walls for rodent gnawing marks as this can cause a short circuit. Ideally, wires located above the ceiling or under the roof hall should be in the conduit.
–  Inspecting the electrical wiring in the ceiling and walls. Check for signs of rodent chewing, as it may cause electrical short circuits. Ideally, electrical wiring located above ceilings or below roof rafters should be housed in conduit pipes.
–  Observe the color of the wire insulation. If the wire color has changed from white to dark or if there's excessive dust accumulation, it indicates higher than normal temperatures and possible overloading of the wire.

Checking the power plug The power plug must be checked for burn, loose and cracked marks and all outlets should be checked for fire by using a screwdriver. Outlet-outlet
- Must not crack and no burns.
- The cable must be connected tightly and the cable size is used correctly.
- The outlet, when plugged into the outlet, must be firm.
- It must be installed in a dry place. It is not wet and should be stuck out of the reach of small children.
Electrical switchboard
- It must be installed in a dry, not wet place and moderately high. Far from various chemicals and flammable substances.
- Check to see if there are ants or insects nesting.
- Do not place obstructions around the switchboard.
- There should be a brief electrical circuit chart attached to the switchboard to know where each circuit is supplying power.
- Metal enclosure switchboards should be grounded.

Inspection of all electrical appliances Check by seeing if a current leak has occurred. By using a screwdriver, tap into the electrical appliance. If the lamp is lit, it means that there is a leakage. This can be fixed by applying a cord fixed to the metal part of the unit. It is attached to nails nailed to the ground to bring the leaking current into the ground. (For water heaters and appliances that require water, it must be properly grounded to the ground for safety while being turned on.)
